The above animals (as well as many more not pictured) are my new best friends. These were purchased several months ago at our local Moms of Multiples Sale. I got a great deal on them and knew that eventually the kids would love to play with them. When I use to teach in daycare, we had some animals like this. They were always among the favorites with the children.
I have been holding onto them, waiting for the perfect time to get them out. I knew several months ago that they would not be ready for them at that point. Hard plastic animals thrown at your sibling, banged on your sibling's head, dropped on your sibling's foot, chewed off legs of poor defenseless giraffes, etc. So, I decided to wait until they were closer to two before I brought them out.
Last week we dealt with some sickness, fevers and now some runny noses. Not fun since no one wanted to sleep well, which means Mommy doesn't get to sleep. Crabby children who are tired of their old baby type toys who are getting restless at home meant Mom was desperate for something new. Then I remembered these wonderful animals.
Since I have shared these creatures with the children, they have played with them non stop. Its amazing to watch them and their creativity.
Sometimes the animals need to go potty. Sometimes they even have to have wipes to clean up their poop.
The animals get very tired playing all day and have to sleep. Shhhh....
They also get very hungry. They like to eat their food from bowls. They also get very thirsty.
The animals have also been known to cry, especially the monkeys. Not sure why they seem to cry the most. The alligator is known for biting fingers and toes, so you might watch out!
