Four Months Old!

We turned four months old Friday! We celebrated by going to the pediatrician for our 4 month check up and more shots- Yuck! We are doing well with gaining weight- 12.6 lbs, 12.5 lbs and 11.2 lbs. We have come a long way from 3.7 lbs, 3.7 lbs, and 3.2 lbs. We are all full of smiles, but still difficult for Mommy to catch for a picture. We are looking foreward to our first Christmas Holiday. Thanksgiving was fun and boy did we get spoiled by our grandparents, auntie and uncle. However, they soon realized that the Binki game is not all its cracked up to be.

RSV SHOT DAY

We had our second RSV shots today. OUCHY!! We survived and know its for our own good. We are counting down the days until we get to meet our only Uncle and Aunt for the first time during the Thanksgiving Holiday. We are so excited. Grandma and Grandpa will also be coming to town to spoil us. Mommy and Daddy are definately looking foreward to some relief, too!

Typical Triplet Day
I thought I would post about a typical triplet day here in our house hold. Lets start at Midnight....Mommy and Daddy wake and "dream feed" the triplets and quickly put them back to bed. Daddy goes to bed and Mommy then pumps to get milk for the next feeding. After pumping and watching a little Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Mommy finally goes to bed. Around 4am, Mommy usually has to get up and give someone a binki that has fallen out of someones mouth and then Mommy goes to bed. Between 6-7am babies start to wake and fuss. Mommy gets up and heats up the breastmilk bottles and wakes Daddy to inform "its time to feed babies". Daddy grumbles and slowwwwwly gets up and grabs a baby. Mommy gets 2 and we feed. After they eat, the babies and Mommy go into the other room so that Mommy can pump more milk for the next feeding. By the time Mommy is done the babies are ready to go back to sleep and off we all go back to bed. Daddy gets up and gets ready for work and leaves. Mommy then tries to get up before the babies wake for their next feeding around 11am. Mommy eats, maybe gets dressed and brushes her teeth and lets the dogs out potty (on a good day), then Mommy feeds all three at one time with the help of 2 boppys. Its playtime and getting dressed time. Then its once again time for Mommy to pump out more milk with my little triplet baby audience in attendance. The babies then go down for a nap and will sleep until the next feed, which is around 1pm. Now Mommy will try to get some things done around the house while also playing the binki game with the babies. The binki game involves Mommy going back and forth into the bed room about 100 times in 10 minutes to put binkis in babies mouths when they keep falling out. It never fails I go in there give a baby and binki, walk out of the room and make it back to the kitchen and guess what another baby is crying and its back to the bedroom I go. I do that all day long. The babies wake I feed them and they generally want to go right back to sleep. Mommy watches Days of our Lives while pumping for the next feeding then its off to do more household chores and play the binki game until 4pm. Mommy feeds again and then tries to take the babies and if its a good day a dog gets to go on a walk with us. Then its back down for a nap and mommy tries to get dinner done and pump more milk while Daddy plays the binki game. Babies are back up around 7-8pm, we feed and snuggle a bit and off to bed they go and we are at the midnight feeding time again. So that is a typical day, granted that is a summary with out all the crazyness and mishaps that happen all along the way such as me trying to pump milk, having babies screaming, dogs barking and the dogs puking on the floor all at the same time, or mommy not getting to eat because the babies all want to scream at the same time and everyone wants to be held by the mom at the same time, etc. Its a new adventure everyday and some are way worse than others, but for the most part we have some sort of system down for now and I am thankful that they are great sleepers!

Happy Halloween!

Our first Halloween was rather uneventful, but we still dressed up for the occasion. We are looking foreward to next year when we can go trick or treating for the first time. We tried to take some cute triplet pictures for the holiday but we had limited success. Its nearly impossible to get three babies to all be happy and content at the same time and pose for a picture, but we sure have fun trying. We sure have alot of pictures with one or more giving a good screaming pose for the camera. Next big holiday is Thanksgiving, which around here is also known as the time when the recruits are coming from 2 different states to help with our little crew. Grandpa and Grandma and the babies only Auntie and Uncle will be joining us and spoiling the babies rotten. Nice break for mom and dad, but boy will the babies be a mess when all the help leaves. But we will have good ole Grandpa and Grandma back at Christmas time to spoil them again!

Triplet Times

The babies have been home for a month and a half now!! Wow how time flies when you are sleep deprived! I cannot complain too much since they have recently blessed us with 5 hour streches of sleep at night time. However that doesnt mean Mommy gets 5 hours. That 5 hours includes feeding 3 babies, changing diapers, dealing with any baby that thinks they need to stay up and party, and of coarse the story of my life- pumping breast milk. Just call me Bessie and you will find me out back in the Milk Barn.
Due to RSV (extrememly severe respiratory virus that can be fatal to preemie babies) Season arriving, we have began the Synagis Shots for this. These are preventative shots, but not 100% fail proof. These shots are done once a month for 6 months and cost a whopping $1000.00 per shot. Thank You Aetna Insurance Plan for your 100% coverage of these bad boys! Due to RSV season we will not be taking the babies out in public places until the spring time. So home sweet home is where we will be. Its like when I was on bed rest, except now I can leave my room and bed.
The babies are growing and growing! When we went to the doctor on Friday for the RSV shots they all were between 8-9 pounds now. They are starting to smile and they are learning to bat at the toys on their toy bar. Mommy was pretty impressed when they started this last week.
Mommy's birthday and Halloween are the next big events for us. However due to RSV and the fact that we only eat breastmilk, we wont be doing Trick Or Treating this year. We will however be festive and wear our pumpkin outfits for the occasion. Hopefully there will be another spare moment to post another blog of Halloween pictures.

The Babies Are Home!!

We have finally been able to bring the babies home!! They came home on Thursday, Sept 14, 2006. The madness has begun!! The first day home was not too bad. Zeus and Athena, the furry siblings, have been great with the babies thus far, which I hope it continues. We had our first trip out on Friday to the pediatrician. The babies were doing and gaining weight. All almost and around the 6 pound range. They got their first shot too. They were troopers, granted they are pretty used to being poked with needles since they were in the NICU for 6 weeks. So now we are all adjusting to our new family life and Mommy and Daddy not getting much sleep.

Our first blog!

We have officially joined the blog revolution! Today we went to the hospital and spent another day with the triplets. The rumor buzzing around the hospital is that our babies are getting to come home this week!!! So we are keeping our fingers crossed and hope everyone keeps behaving. The babies just need to perfect their feeding skills and show they can remember to breath when feeding. Thats a little important. Once they come home the madness will begin! I cannot believe they are 6 weeks old now. Its gone by fast, but its also been a long journey to get them here and I will feel like its complete once they are home.
